A well attended meeting of Freemasons was held at the Masonic Hall, Harries Avenue, Llanelli, on the 14th day of September, 1948 when Unity Lodge, No 6709 was consecrated by the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master, Colonel G.T.Kelway, T.D, D.L.
The ceremony was another illustration of the perfection, care and dignity which is the accepted standard of the work of the Rt. Wor. Prov. Grand Master, who was assisted by the Wor. Dep. Prov. Grand Master, Rev. P.G.Wallis, P.A.G.Chap., and Wor. Bros. T.Llewellyn Thomas, Prov. S.G.W., S.W. Sidney Jones, P.Prov.G.W., J.W. Rev. David Davies, Prov.G.Chaplain, Chaplain, J.E.Davies, P.A.G.D.C.,Prov.G.Secy., Sec. S.H.Hughes, P.Prov.G.W., Prov.G.D.C., D.C., M.W.Fraser., P.Prov.G.D., Asst.D.C., C.W.Wilford, P.Prov.G.Org., Organist, F.Chidzoy, P.Prov.A.G.D.C., I.G.
The oration, given by the Dep.Prov.Grand Master, was very inspiring, and was based on the nature and Principles of the Institution and compared the formation of the Lodge with the building of "King Solomon’s Temple."
The Dep. Prov.G.M. installed W.Bro. T.D.Barker, Prov.J.G.W. as the first Master, who invested the following as the first Officers of the Lodge:-

S.D., J.S.Jones, J.D., W.Bro. W.J.Thomas, P.Prov.G.Swd.B., Asst.D.C., Bros. G.C.Mackie, Asst.Secy., D.J.L.Morris, I.G., Aneurin Evans and D.L.J.Davies, Stewards, Wor.Bro. T.J.Jones, Almoner.
The Rt.Wor. Prov. Grand Master addressed the Wor.Master and presented a Bible to the Master as his personal gift to the Lodge.
Wor. Bro. I.Davidson, P.A.G.D.C., P.Prov.G.W. addressed the Wardens and the Rev. P.G.Wallis, P.A.G.Chap., Dep.Prov.G.M., addressed the Brethren.
The Lodge was closed in due form, and the first verse of the National Anthem was sung which concluded a very impressive ceremony, the memory of which will live Long in the minds of all who were privileged to witness it.

The initials A.E.G. are presumably those of A.E.Gibson, P.Prov.G.Std.B., invested as first secretary of the Lodge.

R.W.Bro. G.T.Kelway, Provincial Grand Master, said at the 1949 Provincial Meeting at Aberystwyth, in the year after the Consecration of Unity Lodge:
"There has been one very notable stage reached in our progress as a Province by the addition of another new Lodge at Llanelli, the Unity Lodge No. 6709. It was a great pride and happiness to me to consecrate this Lodge and I think I may fairly say that it was a noble Ceremony, and a great and inspiring occasion.
